Website upgrade and PWA launch for a multiproduct marketplace

Customer
Shopmundo is the first multi-product eCommerce marketplace in the Dominican Republic, shaping the future of online shopping by combining easy-to-use technology for merchants and the convenience of online shopping for customers on any device. The collaboration between Simtech Development and the Shopmundo marketplace began when its owner asked our team to investigate the reasons why the website was slow, and the functionality produced errors. They also wanted to make several improvements in the future, but we postponed this task for later. First, we had to deal with the bugs because the client regularly received complaints from users and lost profits.
Solution
To begin with, the Simtech Development team conducted a comprehensive performance audit and code review to identify accumulated bugs and errors. We changed the server settings to add system notifications about order processing, fixed the non-working integration with the VisaNet payment system, and fixed the mechanics of promotional codes. In addition, the development team added several custom solutions. Among them - buying goods in one click and using a virtual wallet. We also changed the logic for placing orders for products with variations to reduce the number of product rejections. At the first meeting, the client stated that they would like to launch a mobile application for the store. As an alternative, we offered our pre-built solution - a hybrid of website and mobile application for CS-Cart based on PWA technology and our own pre-built solution. This allowed us to save the customer’s time and budget significantly.
