GET IT & PAY IT is a Multi-Vendor Marketplace from Mexico. Below is a new brand story shared by Victor, CEO of GET IT & PAY IT. With great ambitions and our technical assistance, this project would achieve their goals and gain visibility in the Mexican market. In this post, Victor tells how they managed to drive vendors and customers to their platform when they’ve just started and how they now cope with the exponential growth of orders.

Give us an idea of what your business is, what products you are selling, and the services you are offering?

We are getitandpayit.mx, a Marketplace in Mexico. The main objective of our business is to put the products of sellers and/or manufacturers in the hands of those of customers interested in them through our platform. We aim to position our company as the third Marketplace in our country through innovation and doing things differently.

The idea came up last year when the pandemic arose, at such time we realized 3 very important factors:

  • On one hand, existing Marketplaces, such as distribution companies, were being surpassed, as the growth of online sales were being exponential.
  • Most sellers were not prepared to offer their products online and creating their own pages would consume them a lot of time and investments, resources that they could not afford in the short term, so their only option was to be subject to the terms & conditions of the existing Marketplaces.
  • On the other hand, in Mexico, the online shopping market only represented 5% of the consumer market at that time, giving opportunity for the entry of new companies.

What are the greatest challenges you’ve faced so far and how did you overcome them?

We faced challenges from the beginning. However, we made a systematic plan to carry it out and reduce to the minimum our mistakes. Our initial challenges were how to choose the best platform for our business, which in the end we chose CS-Cart, and then choose the developers and designers who will collaborate in our project.

However, the biggest challenge came at the time of launch. We noticed that the end consumer wanted to see a wide variety of sellers and sellers wanted to see an infinite number of potential buyers. So, we decided to go for only a small niche market with a very specific segment to be our first seller and boost it with the best digital marketing possible. With this approach, we were able to bring our first seller.

What are some unexpected benefits of owning an eCommerce business?

Perhaps the most rewarding is the fact that many companies of international stature, that at first did not even take a call, but then began to pay attention to what we were doing and offered us their services. And we no longer had to go out and look for them. Now they were interested in us! We are talking about courier companies, packing supplies, payment methods, just to mention a few of them.

When it comes to developing new functionality for your online business, you choose Simtech Development. What are the reasons for that?

How are things going at the moment with your store?

What inspires and motivates you to do this business? 

My main motivation to undertake this business was the frustration of having requested a product and that I have canceled it without having warned me, on other occasions it took more than 2 months for me to get a product and that it did not exist in my country. Therefore, I made the decision to do something different that has left me the satisfaction of seeing that the products that we publish from our sellers through our Marketplace are products that arrive in the hands of those who request them and from which we receive positive feedback when they receive their products.

The best advice I can give to a person starting out in e-commerce is that no matter how many obstacles are in the way, hold on to your project: If the strategy you are following is not the right one you can change it and do it better. If the team you are working with is not the right one because they do not have your vision for the future, you can change it; if the digital campaign is not the right one, look for a better one, but above all do not give up. This business is based upon a lot of constancy and hard work every day.
